Timed Writing

For project three, my topic was the disposal of stereotypes and generalizations of Asian Americans and minorities in general. For this project we created a blog, letters, and game/fable. These mini projects stemmed from an essay we completed for project two.
The blog is a place where anyone connected to the Internet can see your writing. It is a place where anyone can post his or her own writings, links, polls, advertisements, and etc. For our blogs posted links to three other websites that either supported or criticized our ideas in project three. The main tools we used for creating the blog were our essay from project 2 and the Internet. I don’t think my blog is too effective. The format is hard on the eyes, and the format, though very bare, is still confusing. The main problem is that I am horrible with computers. The “Link” section somehow dug its way to the bottom of the page, whereas most other blogs have their “link” section tucked neatly into the side column of the blog. Also, fashion for online web pages for me is as unnatural as walking on my hands.
For project three we made and sent three letters to links or organizations that either opposed or supported our project. Since my project is not stereotyping Asian Americans, racists and underground cults would be the only groups opposing my point of view, and I did not search the denizens of the Internet hard or long enough to find them. The three places I did send my letters too were Media Action Network for Asian Americans, Model Minority, and Asian American Film. I read over these three websites, before sending letters addressed to specific topics on their websites. In each letter, I followed a similar pattern. First I told them who I was, an Asian American college student. Then I addressed several of their articles, and then I told them I supported their efforts.
The fable is a still an ongoing project for me. I am expanding my topic from only Asian Americans to all minorities. As of right now, I am in between ideas. The topic of diversity is difficult to write or make a game about, since the age group is between fifth and eighth grade. I am in the process of writing a pro diversity story, but it has been difficult due to the age group specific.
